Just like any other type of structure, log houses will require some type of periodic maintenance in order to better withstand the forces of nature that they are constantly subjected to. Since they are constructed out of wood, they are particularly prone to attacks from insects that typically destroy wood. Even so, log houses aren't particularly susceptible to termite infestation. In fact, log houses may be better protected against such attacks, since it is easier for you to see where termites are forming their tunnels.
